Units: These gel units are available in three systems: MinicellTM
System, MidicellTM System, and MaxicellTM
System.
Minicell System: Used for separation and detection of small quantities of nucleic acids, and for protein and enzyme separation. Gel size is small: 9cm x 6.5cm x #1.5cm thick. Gels can be cast in uniform thickness, and a level chamber allows the buffer to maintain its depth across the gel. Combination combs of 1-well/4-well or 8-well/12-well can be used.
Midicell System: Used for rapid analysis of large number of samples (for example in PCR: polymerase chain reaction, and RFLP: restriction fragment length polymorphisms); also in screening of plasmid or bacteriophage clones. Can run up to 80 samples on one gel. Gel tray is ultrawide (20 x 10cm), and combs are 40-well combs.
Maxicell System: Used for larger number of samples to be analyzed rapidly. Accommodates 10 x 20cm and 20 x 20cm gels.
Electrophoresis Power Supplies:
E-C Apparatus
Constant Power Electrophoresis Power Supplies: High-voltage power supplies used for
most electrophoresis applications. Lightweight, stackable, precise digital control,
internal timer present, with automatic crossover between modes. Maximum run time:100
hours. Available in three models: EC6000-90 (6000V, 200mA, 200W), EC-600- 90 (4000V,
300mA, 300W), and EC-500-90 (2000V, 300mA, 300W).
E-C
Apparatus Constant Voltage Power Supplies: Offer convenient knob-setting, DC output,
and safety sensors. Available in three models: EC-154 (500V, 500mA, 250W), EC-150 (150V,
1500mA, 225W), and EC-105 (250V, 300mA, 500W).
E-C Apparatus Constant Current Power Supplies: Offer knob-adjusted output setting, digital readout, and a load sensor that shuts power off on disconnect. Available in four models.
Photodocumentation
System: Consisting of Polaroid* Photodocumentation Camera, Hood, and White Light/UV
Transilluminator. Used to obtain instant and permanent record of electrophoresis results
using the white or UV light.
