Spectrophotometers
This single-beam, microprocessor controlled unit can be used to store upto 31 user programmed tests and also includes four preprogrammed functions, that are linear and non-linear standard curves, kinetics and end-point analyses. Messages on instrument status, errors, parameter prompts and test results are provided in English alongwith a display of data on absorbance, % transmittance or concentration by a 16-character digital readout. For convenience sake, features like autozero, 3-second wavelength adjustment and full built-in diagnostics have been included. A high-energy tungsten-halogen lamp penetrates samples with a continuous visible wavelength range of 325 to 900nm. A <8nm spectral slitwidth and concave holographic grating, that provides quality monochromatic light with fewer optical components, create optimum resolution and energy. This instrument has been built tough to withstand harsh lab environments. The corrosion-proof optical surfaces, sealed keyboard, permanently aligned optics with no need of adjustment are just some of the intrinsic features of the design. The lamp life can be upto 3000 hours under typical lab conditions and the accessories are simple to install with the opportunity of accomodating a wide variety of samples with optional holders. For easy change in parameters, the detachable control panel can be placed on the bench. There is also a built-in RS-232-C interface for remote operations like documentation of data.
Just as its predecessor Spectronic 20 Spectrophotometer, this new model incorporates the reliability and the ease-of-use with newly added improvements and features. To make high-technology accessible in a simple-way, this unit offers very user-friendly operations like a 2-line, 20-character LCD readout to display data in absorbance (-0.1 to +2.5), % transmittance (0 to 125%) or concentration (0 to 1999). It also offers other information as instrument status, diagnostics, or its change of parameters in set-up. All this is done in different languages, such as English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. The unit operates continuously over a wide wavelength range of 325 to 1100 nm without change of filter or detector. The detector has been made solid-state and the spectral slitwidth of 8nm provides high resolution at any setting. No special accessory or tool is required for loading standard cuvets or test tubes. This unit comes with a standard single-position snap-in cell holder that accomodates most cuvets and test-tubes. With optional snap-in holders, a wide variety of sample cells can also be accomodated. This unit too has been built tough with spill-proof and double-laminated buttons. Documentation of results is also possible with optional printer.
Along with a wide range of wavelength, this instrument offers exceptional reliability and value for money. For maximum efficiency, the monochromator has been made to consist of a plane diffraction grating in an f7 Ebert mounting with first surface reflective optics. A single casting is used for alignment of optics, sample and detector. Silicon solid-state photo detector with integrated circuit analog and digital processing is one of the advanced electronic features offered, due to which the wavelength range is varied, offering the possibility to carry out most routine UV and colorimetric tests. Due to exceptional sensitivity for 8nm bandwidth and less than 0.5% stray light, the wavelength accuracy is within 2nm over its full range. The photometric calibration acn be done by a knob on the front panel. The combination of photometric calibration circuit and lamp-regulating makes the source intensity totally independent of line fluctuations. The overall operation of the instrument is very user-friendly. The easily readable, linear, 3-1/2 digit LED display can be switched to show both transmittance or absorbance. The solid-state circuitry has integrated circuits for analog and digital processing. Available in both 120V and 240V models.
